Fancy dress - Christmas Party

Have we thought of a fancy dress idea? (I need time to plan my outfit/lack of outfit!)

Game's off

Sutton vs Edgbaston on Sat 27th November has been postponed due to the condition of the pitch. The slip date for this game is on Sunday 7th February. Details of the social arrangements for the day will be disseminated via text/ email.

How to make Carrot Cake.....

Recipe is really easy - no sieving needed (unless you want to!)

1 cup SR flour (1cup is about 120g)
1 cup caster sugar
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of cinammon
1/2 teaspoon of mixed spices
1/2 cup of melted marg
2 eggs (beaten)
2 cups of grated carrot.

Mix all the dry ingredients together and then add eggs & marg - mix well.  Stir in carrots.

Bake in 8inch tin for 1 hour (Gas mark 4 / 180 degrees C).  Line tin well with baking paper

Icing

3oz butter
3oz cream cheese
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
6oz of icing sugar (or as much as you need to make the icing not runny)

Mix together cheese, butter and vanilla.  Add icing sugar (gradually) and mix well.  Spread over cake when cool

Kerry: "I'm guna buy a fish so I have someone to talk to" ...I quite like the self-satisfied grin that came after that statement.

Quick word bout the cup game...

Result: 2-3 (ET)

Unfortunately it was another one of 'those games' where it didnt quite fall our way. They were pushy and aggressive on the ball....but we just need to learn to give it back. Jelly did her best to try and get 'that' player sent off though.
Meg you would have been impressed with the amount of players that we managed to take out...it was like a flock of dying swans. It took us nearly 2hrs to play the game...go figure.

Thought we all played pretty dam good, some awsome hockey being played and I was impressed with the way the 2s players linked in well and they definitely did not look out of place!

Aside from the result I think we should take from that game that....well....we're basically 1. going to thrash them next time we play them and 2. kick 'em off the park.

Silly Golden Goal rule, after that flick practicing we could have had them! Damn it, so can't wait for the rematch to rattle them even more. Unlucky ladies :-( at least we "got the crab out" ;-)

Coaching Points

* Put the ball in the crook of the stick, angle the stick 45 degrees to the pitch
* point your left foot at the target
* right foot behind the line(as per the rules)weight on ball of foot, 90o angle
* Point butt of stick at the target, high elbow
* drag the stick forwards and through towards the target and pivot the right foot
* Transfer weight from right to left foot, staying low

North Notts Ladies – 4
Olton & West Warwick – 4

North Notts Ladies 1st team travelled to Olton and West Warwick for their first away game of the season. Notts knew that they would be in for a tough test as Olton were relegated for the league above last season.

Olton started very well and were 3-0 up after 20 minutes and Notts began to wonder just how many more they would score as they were dominating every area of the pitch. Notts then decided to change their formation slightly and this enabled Notts to start competing in the game. 5 minutes before half time Alicia Robinson earned Notts a penalty corner which Lisa Butler deflected in on the right post from Robinson’s pass to give Notts some hope before half time.

After a good encouraging team talk at half time Notts came out in second half like a different team. Notts now having the majority of the possession began to push forward at every opportunity. 10 minutes into the second half Notts earned a short corner which Amy Butler put away at the second time of asking making it 3-2 to Olton. Notts were now really playing well as a team and were gaining more and more confidence. Notts then equalised with 20 minutes to go good determination from Amy Butler winning the ball on the 25 and then driving into the D to cross for Helen Clark to put the ball into the roof of the net. Notts now believed in themselves and pushed for a winner and with Clare Faulkner again solid at the back and Heather Perry tidying things up in the middle of the field Olton were struggling to find an opening. Notts went 4-3 up with 10 minutes to go from another short corner after good work from Holly Whittaker set up Robinson for a cracking shot into the bottom left corner. Notts just needed to hold their lead now and just keep possession however a lack of concentration lead to an Olton forward being free on the left post fortunately for Notts Rachel Brown in goal was in fine form and pulled off a magnificent save. However Notts joy was short lived when Olton equalised with 2 minutes left on the clock from a short corner. The final score being 4-4.

Feedback from Saturday

I hope you're all ok and didn't drown your sorrows too much on Saturday.  I haven't quite got over the disappointment of losing - although it's made me more determined to put it right on Saturday.   Oh and I apologise for losing my temper.... cringing a little about that now! 

I'm just interested in collecting your thoughts about the game on Saturday and to see what you think we need to improve.

On a positive note I thought we created more chances to score than ever, worked hard to come back from going a goal down and in spells played some really lovely hockey.  Game by game we're improving as a team - Claire and I can't ask anymore than that.

In terms of areas for improvement....at times on Saturday I thought we lost our discipline, didn't react quickly to turn over balls and didn't all attack as a unit.  I also think we need to work at controlling the game at our pace.  On Saturday Olton slowed the ball pace down and we slowed down with them.

I'd be interested in hearing whether you agree/disagree with my thoughts and what ideas you have.

Looking forward  to a good training session on Tuesday.

Well done for yesterday

Well done to everyone who BEAT harborne!!!  I thought everyone played really well and worked hard for the whole 70mins.

From the side line our shape looked good and our work rate was brilliant.  Laura, meg and charlotte all deserved a goal (it will come).... although Laura's shots on goal was far too pretty - you need to work on that!!!!

Club day

Hope those of you who came along yesterday had a good time! and those of you who didn't make it need to make sure you come to the next social =) good turn out if you count the dogs too!

I don't remember much from 7.30pm onwards...

Training was awsome! Really enjoyed it, even if i struggled to find the energy to walk up the stairs when I got home.
Anyone else pretty excited bout club day, or more specifically going out after club day!? :-)

Also, an important add-on to our meeting from wednesday night...we are so getting team of the year this year.

Club Day

Cameras will be at the ready on club day to get some "ugly" snaps :-). Training was great last night :-). Blog good idea, now to feed some fish!
